I’ve been there.

Why I Do This Work

Hi, I’m Kate.

I graduated from UT Austin with a degree in Art History and a business minor, grateful for a liberal arts education but with little guidance on how to turn that knowledge into a career.

I moved to New York for what I believed was my dream job: a role at a contemporary art gallery. Six months later, in the middle of the 2008 recession, I was laid off.

That moment changed my life.

I went home, did some soul-searching, and realized:

  • I had no roadmap

  • I didn’t know how to pivot

  • I desperately needed real career mentorship

With the support of people who invested in me, I earned my MBA and rebuilt my career from scratch.

Years later, I merged two passions (restaurants and tech) and helped scale DoorDash Platform Services (Drive) from $9M to $500M+, leading cross-functional teams and building the frameworks that helped thousands of merchants thrive. Most recently, I served as VP at OpenTable and Flock Safety, and today I work with young companies on growth strategy and operations while mentoring the next generation of professionals.

Throughout my career, I’ve hired, developed, and coached dozens of young professionals through their own pivots, promotions, and career-defining moments.

My journey was never linear.
It was a jungle gym, not a ladder.
And every leap was made possible by mentorship.

Now I want to be that resource for others.
